At an explanatory meeting with representatives of Russian airlines on August 29, the authorities will discuss the possibility of directing air routes to Sochi and Turkey, bypassing the airspace of Kazakhstan. On August 27, reports RBC with reference to the State Air Traffic Management Corporation.
According to media reports, during the meeting, a proposal to remove the 10-kilometer route from FL330-530 (10.05-10.65 km) from the restrictions will be discussed.
If the initiative is approved, the flight time from Vnukovo airport to Sochi could be reduced by more than 20 minutes, the return flight will be 10 minutes shorter. This is evidenced by the forecast of the interlocutor of the agency associated with the airlines.
It is also noted that the duration of the flight for routes from Moscow to Turkey will also change. At the same time, it is specified that the details of these changes will become known after the air carriers make navigational calculations.
On August 22, it was reported that the Federal Air Transport Agency extended the ban on flights to 11 airports in Russia. The airports of Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista are still closed.
On August 1, it became known that the Federal Air Transport Agency transferred 54 billion rubles of subsidies to airlines and airports under three state support programs, the total amount of which is over 125 billion rubles. This applies to domestic flights, compensation for shortfalls in income due to the cancellation of international flights and assistance to airports due to the closure of flights to some of the southern cities of Russia.
Difficulties with flights abroad for Russian airlines arose against the backdrop of the sanctions of the European Union, which closed airspace for the Russian Federation. The Federal Air Transport Agency, in turn, also limited flights over Russian territory to airlines from 36 countries.
