The initiative will be active for a weekend and plans a MeetUp, talks and an opening ceremony.
Video game development is finding a lot of support in Spain. This is demonstrated by initiatives such as the Fun&Serious festival, which in its last edition had the collaboration of Steam, or the PlayStation Talents program. However, there are also many projects that are created in the frenetic ecosystem of the game jamand from Open Culture they have decided to take the 8 top rated games from its fourth edition to Athenaeum of Madrid.
These titles, and all those that have been developed throughout previous Game Jams, can be tested from the Thursday 10 and until Saturday 12 February in the exhibition hall of the Ateneo de Madrid, on Calle del Prado 19. But the novelties do not end here, since this initiative organized by DEV and promoted by Spanish Cultural Action (AC/E) plans more activities related to video game development.
Following this line, on Thursday there will be an opening ceremony at 5:00 p.m. that will include a special edition of the program Continental breakfastin which they will participate Violet Mold (Narrative Designer and 2D Artist at Chibig Studios), Alexander Caceres (co-founder of the Monte Perdido studio and a member of Nivel Oculta) and Javier Roman (director of SYFY Games TV show). In addition to this, on Friday at 7:00 p.m. there will be a MeetUp of the association FemDevs (requires confirm attendance) while on Saturday at 11:00 the talk will take place “Beyond the light: Journey and the journey of the soul“, for Laura CastroPhD candidate at the University of St. Andrews and specialized in medieval Iranian mythology, literature and art.
Of course, the Spanish initiatives have surprised a good handful of users. Beyond the Game Jam, there are projects created by a single person that have had a great impact on the internetsomething we have seen with games like ROJO: A Spanish Horror Experience, or the RPG The Silent Kingdom.
