The project, which began last Friday, July 15, makes it possible for bathers with reduced mobility who visit the beaches of San Ginés, Playa Honda and Puerto Bello, to enjoy the assisted bathing service completely free of charge and with the support of two specialized monitors on each of the beaches. The service will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., until August 31.
This summer the three assisted bathing points that began last year 2021 are maintained, being one more than in 2019. The councilor stressed that “by eliminating barriers, we eliminate the inability to bathe people with disabilities”, recalling that it is of «a continuing project in collaboration with Fundación la Caixa and FAMDIF».
The territorial director of CaixaBank in the Region of Murcia, Olga García Saz, stated that “this project is exciting for the coastal area”, thanking FAMDIF and the Cartagena City Council for making it possible. “At Fundación la Caixa we understand that it is essential to have the third sector, to respond to the most important demands of vulnerable groups,” she added.
