The Argentine Federal Court of Criminal Cassation confirmed this Wednesday the sentence of six years in prison and “perpetual disqualification from holding public office” against former Argentine president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) in a case for irregularities in road works.
The Federal Oral Court 2 had convicted Fernández in December 2022 for the crime of fraudulent administration of public funds for the case known as “Roads”, in which irregularities were investigated in the concession of 51 road works to firms of businessman Lázaro Báez during the Government of the late Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) and that of his wife and successor Cristina Fernández in the southern province of Santa Cruz, political cradle of Kirchnerism.
