Zaki added that the statement of the Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, is very clear, in which he called on all Sudanese to dialogue, as it is the only way to overcome any existing differences, noting that the Secretary-General also called for adherence to the constitutional document as the reference governing the transitional phase.
He stressed that the Arab League stands with the Sudanese people and in their interest, as the popular will in such matters is a vital issue that cannot be bypassed.
He considered that the situation in Sudan is “very sensitive,” as there are constant developments, expressing the Arab League’s hope for the return of dialogue between the various components in Sudan, especially the civil and military components.
Zaki said that the transitional phase in Sudan was progressing, albeit with difficulty, stressing that there is no problem that is intractable to dialogue.
