The incident took place in the city of Santa, New Mexico, on Thursday evening, while filming the series “Rust”, which belongs to the category of “Western” films, i.e. films of the American Old West.
According to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, the shooting occurred by mistake during the filming scenes.

The story began when Alec Baldwin, 63, fired from a firearm that was supposed to have been loaded with chelating bullets, but the weapon was loaded with deadly bullets.
A local official said in a statement: “According to investigators, the accident occurred during the filming of one of the scenes in the movie, which involved the use of a firearm.
The film’s director of photography, Haliana Hutchins and director Joel Souza, were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors quickly announced Hutchins’ death, while Souza was still in the intensive care unit.
And the agency “Agence France Presse”, quoting local media, said that the police had opened an investigation into the accident, as they questioned Baldwin.
A police spokesman said that the actor “made his statement and answered some questions”, after he voluntarily came to the police station and later left after the investigation was over. The authorities have not yet filed any charges.
Production of the new movie was suspended indefinitely, according to the production company.
It was not clear how the American actor managed to injure two people, although the accident all happened by mistake.
This story recalls the killing of actor Brandon Lee in March 1993 as a result of being shot in the stomach, and shots were fired from a weapon that was supposed to be loaded with bullets.
slams
On the networks, celebrities and prominent figures in the film industry criticized what they described as the “gross negligence” that led to the tragic accident.
Elijah Wood tweeted that Hutchins’ murder was “terrifying and devastating.”
In turn, director James Gunn said his greatest fear was that a member of his crew might get hurt while filming artwork.
As for the actor Paul Scheer, he criticized the negligence that led to the killing of the photographer, as there are rules in place to ensure that such incidents do not occur.
He considered that what happened was a crime, due to the presence of many negligent people, and said: “I cannot understand this could be possible (the presence of live bullets in a pistol during filming).”
