The elements of the Colombian Navy that carry out humanitarian demining missions work with millimeter precision. In areas such as the Montes de María, where the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and paramilitaries used anti-personnel mines in the 1990s, residents have managed to resume their daily lives thanks to these squads.
In Colombia there are 12,228 people registered as affected by Antipersonnel Mines, Unexploded Munitions and Improvised Explosive Devices, according to the Single Registry of Victims (RUV).
