The story of Junko furuta it still resonates in Japan, especially among teenagers. Furuta was a 16-year-old girl who lived in Tokyo and led the typical life of a woman her age who lives in the city.
He studied at a high school and spent time with his friends on the weekends.
In late 1988, the young woman was kidnapped by other adolescents and, after spending 44 days in captivity, in 1989 she was brutally murdered.
The high school I was attending was called Saitama Prefecture in Misato, in the vicinity of Tokyo.
Twice a week after school, I had a part-time job at a plastics factory. The young woman was saving to take a trip after graduation.

Kidnapping organized by teenagers
On November 25, 1988, when she was cycling home from work, four teenagers (all between 15 and 18 years old) intercepted her.
In the group was Hiroshi miyano, known for having close connections to the Yakuza mob.
As reported by ‘Japan Insides’, that afternoon, the four young men took Furuta to a property that belonged to the family of one of the kidnappers, Shinji Minato (called Nobuharu Minato by the press, to preserve his identity).

The house was located in the Ayase district, in Tokyo, and it was the place where he remained the next 44 days in captivity, under extreme and daily physical and psychological torture.
The heinous crimes they committed against Junko Furuta
The first thing the kidnappers It was forcing her to call her parents to tell them that she was fine and that she would not be coming home.
That call hampered the investigation and, added to the enormous influence of the Miyano family (and the terror they founded under different mechanisms), prevented solving the crime and saving the young woman.
In total, Furuta spent 44 days kidnapped. During this time it was raped by the main perpetrators of the crime and others. She was also beaten, cut and subjected to various forms of humiliation.

As it became known towards the end of the investigation, the torture suffered by the young woman was savage.
In addition to the consecutive rapes of the gang led by Miyano, the group offered other members of the Yakuza mob witnessing sessions of violence and abuse in exchange for money, and even prostituting her during the period in which she was kidnapped.
The young woman also suffered other types of mistreatment. For example, she was fed insects and forced to take urine from her kidnappers.
The testimonies indicate that all the time she was beaten and emotionally weakened in different ways.
According to the coverage of the japanese pressWhat Furuta went through those 44 days was a hell difficult to imagine.
In total, it is estimated that the teenager suffered more than 400 rapes perpetrated by different men and that at least 100 people attended to witness the torture sessions.
In other words, a hundred individuals became accomplices in the crime that lasted for a month and a half.
Junko Furuta’s crime trial
After one of his kidnappers, Miyano, lost a game of mahjong, he unleashed his fury on Furuta, accompanied by the rest of the gang.
They set her on fire from her limbs eventually causing her to death on January 4, 1989.
(You can read: They execute a man for killing his wife and raping his daughter).
Three months passed before the body was found on the outskirts of Kyoto, inside a container filled with cement.
The trial for the crime was scandalous.
Like most of the captors they were minors at the time of the crime, the penalties were light.
Hiroshi Miyano, the leader of the group, was the one who received the highest penalty: he was detained for 17 years. The other three teens spent eight years in the jail.
Due to the short sentences, all were released with less than 40 years.
However, in 2018, according to ‘Tokyo Reporter’, Shinji Minato (then Nobuharu) was arrested again, although for another crime.
Under the figure of attempted murder, Minato was imprisoned after beating and stabbing a man who managed to survive the attack.
