In Lviv, emergency hospital doctors were able to perform a complex and extremely responsible operation. A donor was found for three patients in need of organ transplants. As told in the hospital, the donor was a 28-year-old Lviv resident who died of a stroke. The family signed an agreement to donate organs – a heart and two kidneys – to patients in need.
“The donor is a young man, 28 years old. Stroke. We fought for him for a week, but, unfortunately, his brain died. After the council of doctors confirmed this, the relatives agreed to donate. They were mother, sister and wife, pregnant with the firstborn. She was the first to agree to sign the documents without further ado. It was important to her that her late husband’s heart continued to beat“, – said General Director of the hospital Oleg Samchuk…
“The biggest thanks go to the donor’s family. We deeply sympathize with your loss and hope that understanding that three people will continue to live thanks to your difficult decision will at least slightly reduce the pain.“, – added the doctor.
The donor heart was transplanted to a 36-year-old resident of Konstantinovka suffering from cardiomegaly. His own heart had quadrupled due to complications from the flu.
A kidney was transplanted to a 51-year-old resident of Lviv, who had to undergo regular dialysis for the last two years, and in general has been sick for over ten years.
Another kidney was received by a man from Kiev, whose earlier transplanted organ refused, and for six months the patient was on renal replacement therapy.
