Texas Judge Amy Clark temporarily suspended a directive from Governor Greg Abbott for state officials to investigate families where parents support gender-changing medical treatments for children. A lawsuit was filed after the family of a public servant was approached by authorities. The decision can be appealed.

Last month, Abbott asked the state’s Department of Family Protection (DFPS) to look into families who allow invasive drug procedures on children for sex reassignment. The lawsuit “constitutes child abuse under Texas law,” she said.

In giving the decision, the magistrate claimed that transgender children and youth could suffer “imminent and irreparable harm” if the rule continued in force. As a matter of fact, Research shows that less than 1% of children who experience gender dysphoria (a psychological condition in which children feel an incongruity between the gender they feel they have and the gender associated with their biological sex) remain with this desire over time.

On the other hand, the consequences of hormone blockers in children are harmful. In addition to leading to sterility, they cause serious health, physical and psychological problems.
