Waiting to get behind the wheel of the brand new Mercedes W13 from early afternoon, Lewis Hamilton was intercepted this morning in the pitlane dressed as inspector of order, with hood and raincoat, to scrutinize the shapes of rival single-seaters. The seven-time world champion certainly did not go unnoticed in the pit lane of Barcelona’s Montmelò, waiting for his first contact with the Red Bull R18 track, the car of his number 1 rival Max Verstappen. The Anglo-Austrian car had been the only one to show only the livery, and therefore there was curiosity around the real lines of Adrian Newey’s latest creature. As captured by several photographers, Hamilton seemed quite attracted to both the Red Bull box and the Alpha Tauri box, placing himself near their entrance waiting for the cars to leave the track.
