BERLIN (Reuters) – Tesla’s plans to expand its factories in Germany are on hold for the time being after being taken off the agenda of the local city council, German radio rbb reported.
The mayor of Gruenheide, where the company has its “gigafactory”, withdrew the item for the September meeting citing the need for further clarification and could not say whether the issue would be addressed this year, rbb reported.
Tesla in Germany was not immediately available for comment.
The company submitted an order in May to build another 100 hectares east of its factory in Germany, expanding the site’s area by a third, rbb reported at the time.
The automaker, which already has 300 hectares of land for its car and battery plants under construction, plans to build a charging station, logistics areas and parking spaces on the additional space.
