Tesla is preparing to build a new Gigafactory in Asia. And to be precise in Thailand: the giant led by Elon Musk is in fact in negotiations with the Thai government to lay the foundations for the construction of its new factory. Word of Supakorn Congsomjit, an official from the Prime Minister's Office of the Government of Thailand, who explained how the Tesla's attempts reaching an agreement in this sense has been going on for some time.

In fact, the US car manufacturer had already led at the end of last year an investigation in relation to a potential production facility in the country. The Thai government, in response, said it was willing to offer to Tesla 100% green energy for the management of the plant, which will host the production of electric vehicles and batteries.
The importance of Thailand
Let us remember that Thailand is the largest producer and exporter of automobiles in South-East Asia and for this reason it aspires to become the main hub of electric vehicle production in the region. And that's not all: the Asian country has already collected more 1.44 billion dollars in investment commitments from a number of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers. And not just Chinese.
Tesla as BMW
In fact, it is news these days that also BMW has chosen Thailand for the construction of its new production plant: the German group has laid the foundation stone of the new factory which will be responsible for the construction of high voltage batteries Gen-5, with a ceremony attended by Milan Nedeljković, member of the production council, representatives of the Thai government and the German ambassador to Thailand Ernst Reichel.
