Musk has a net worth of around $ 279 billion
The founder of Tesla Elon Musk exercise others stock option worth approx 1.02 billion dollars and the title of the electric carmaker reverses course a Wall Street: after gaining 1.4%, it then fell to -1.8% and in the first part of the NYSE session it dropped 1.47% to $ 1,072. The CEO of Tesla And SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp) then exercised the last series of stock options expiring in August 2022 – almost 1.6 million shares – guaranteed by the 2012 salary package, at a price of $ 6.24 per share.
Since last month, Musk exercised over 22.8 million stock options and sold 15.7 million shares, the latter of worth over 16 billion. Since the South African businessman began selling his shares on November 8, Tesla’s stock has lost more than 10%; yesterday, it closed down 0.5% at $ 1,088.47.
According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk has a net worth of around $ 279 billion, which makes him the richest man in the world, a legacy that is primarily related to the operations of Tesla and his aerospace company.
Taxes and the dispute with Senator Dem Elizabeth Warren
For this year, he said he will pay $ 11 billion in taxes, after a series of criticisms from the senator Elizabeth Warren on the payment of taxes by billionaires. To the US senator, Musk replied, “He called me a scrounger and a scammer who basically does not pay taxes and I am literally paying most of the taxes that any individual in history has ever paid this year,” adding that the salary of Warren is paid by the taxpayers. “If you could die of irony, she would be dead.” Under a 2018 shareholder-approved compensation deal, Musk is likely to proceed with other deals like those of the past few weeks in the future.
Meanwhile, Tesla will publish the balance sheet data for the fourth quarter of 2021 in a few days, at the beginning of January, perhaps already on the 3rd even if last year the results of the reference period were presented on January 27th. Analysts predict that the results will jump beyond the most optimistic estimates. An average delivery of 276,900 vehicles is expected in the fourth quarter of this year, while 241,300 vehicles had been delivered in the third quarter, and estimates of 232,000 deliveries had already been beaten at the time.
The group hits one million sales in 2021: two out of three electric vehicles in the United States are Tesla
Other analysts, such as those of Rbc Capital Markets, predict a jump in deliveries of 58% in the fourth quarter on an annual basis and 18% on a quarterly basis at 285,000 units: this would equate to 913,000 deliveries for the full year. The forecasts are however encouraged by the results recorded in recent months which show that starting from September, two out of three electric vehicles in the United States are Tesla. Other companies like Ford and General Motors are struggling with a shortage of semiconductors, and instead Tesla has managed to partially avoid production breaks.
Tesla, however, has risen to the dawn of the news, today, for one Space “quarrels” with China. In summary, Beijing has accused the United States of irresponsible and dangerous conduct in space due to two “close encounters” between the Chinese space station and satellites of Elon Musk’s Starlink company. Indeed, the new Chinese space station would have been forced to carry out emergency maneuvers to avoid collision with the satellites of the future Starlink Internet service and this would have happened twice, in July and last October.
But yesterday the target is over Starlink, a division of Musk’s SpaceX company that operates a constellation of nearly 2,000 satellites that aims to provide Internet access globally. SpaceX is a private company, but according to China, members of the Outer Space Treaty (Outer Space Treaty), the foundation of international space law, are also responsible for the actions of their non-governmental entities.
Beijing’s stance has sparked a series of criticisms on Chinese social networks, such as Weibo, of Musk. Many tweets have tried to discourage consumers from buying Tesla vehicles and boycotting their sales: moreover, in the country of Dragon, Musk’s company sells tens of thousands of cars every month
