Terrorist prisoners attacked guards in a Russian prison on Friday and took hostages, security sources, Russian state media and news websites said.
“During a session of the disciplinary committee, prisoners detained employees of the penal institution” located in the Volgograd region, the prison service said in a statement.
“Measures are currently being taken to free the hostages. There is a loss of life,” the administration added.
Mash News Channel published a video clip showing at least two terrorists.
At least one prison guard was killed, Russian state media said.
In June, Russia witnessed a bloody riot linked to the terrorist organization ISIS in a prison in the southern Rostov region, where special forces shot six prisoners after they took hostages.
Later that month, at least 20 people were killed in shootings in two cities in Dagestan in southern Russia.
In March, terrorists attacked the Crocus City concert hall near Moscow, firing automatic weapons at the audience and setting the building on fire, killing more than 140 people.
