Tennis | Mexico sets tennis record: match between Zverev and Brooksby stretches to around five in the morning

Zverev, who finished second in the tournament, won Brooksby 2-1 in a match that lasted more than three hours.

Tennis professionals Alexander Zverev and Jenson Brooksby had to toil an exceptionally late ATP match on Tuesday night in Acapulco, Mexico. The tournament’s opening round match got off to a local time after half past two at night and ended early at 4.54am.

The end of the match between Zverev of Germany and Brooksby of the United States is the latest in the history of professional tennis. A previous record was set at the 2008 Australian Open when Lleyton Hewittin and Marcos Baghdatisin the match ended at 4.34 local time.

Zverev, who finished second in the tournament, won Brooksby 2-1 in a match that lasted more than three hours. The fight was preceded by two matches that also lasted more than three hours.
