A day after beating Czech Karolina Pliskova, world number 3 and main favorite for the title of the Indian Wells tennis tournament, Brazilian Bia Haddad said goodbye to the competition after being defeated on Tuesday (12) by Estonian Anett Kontaveit by 2 sets to 0 (partials of 6/0 and 6/2) in the round of 16.
The Brazilian entered the competition in an unusual way. After losing in qualifying, for 2 sets the 1 (4/6, 6/4 and 6/0) for the North American Usue Maitane, the paulista ended up being benefited by some withdrawals, which led her to the main draw of the competition.
Bia then debuted in the competition with a 2 win. sets to 0 (6/3 and 6/0) on the Egyptian Mayar Sherif. Then, against the number one seed in the competition, the Brazilian won. But the good moment of São Paulo in the tournament stopped there.
