While year-on-year growth is lower than usual, the behemoth remains above Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo in revenue
Chinese video game giant Tencent recorded the lowest revenue increase in its history, 8 percent more than the previous year. The slow pace of growth is mainly due to restrictions on overseas Chinese companies, but that hasn’t stopped Tencent from remaining number one in the entire video game industry. The company earned 144.18 billion yuan (about 20 billion euros) in the fourth quarter of 2021, thanks to the popularity of its smartphone games. 9.9 percent increase in year-over-year revenue (totaling $ 32.38 billion in revenue in 2021) puts Tencent once again in first place in the world among video game manufacturers, against Sony with $ 24.87 billion, Microsoft with $ 16.28 billion and Nintendo with $ 15.3 billion. Tencent is strong on the success of its flagship games: PUBG Mobile, Brawl Stars And Clash of Clanswithout forgetting that the company also distributes Valorant.
