But it doesn’t stop there, Jey Corden was hinting on Twitter that this company could be Take Two. Tencent achieved more M&A in the gaming industry than any other company in the past year. This according to a report from Niko Partners, which shows that the Chinese gaming and technology giant invested in 31 deals related to the games industry.
The analytics specialist reports that this is a record number for the company, three times more than what it achieved in 2019 and more than four times greater than the number of M&A deals it made in 2017. Tencent’s investments were a combination of acquisitions, mergers, major and minor participations and financing rounds. Most involved other Chinese companies, but there were also a number of notable Western deals. And it seems that Tencent could buy Take Two (Rockstar included).

Will Hershey, CEO of investment and stock management firm Round Hill Capital, was the one who reported Tencent’s interest in buying a major video game company. Among the options Tencent interest sound names as important as implausible. Among those options is by position, Take Two. It was Jez Corden who left a series of Tweets and replies that just hinted at Tencent’s interest in Take Two.

Certainly to Tencent does not lack capital to buy a study as valuable as Take Two. But perhaps Take Two lacks the will to be bought by the Chinese giant.
