The MDB candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Simone Tebet, said this Saturday, 3, that spending on Science and Technology (S&T) will be outside the spending ceiling in her eventual government, as well as Education. The candidate visits the International Fair of Technologies in Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility Reatech Brasil, in São Paulo, alongside the deputy, Mara Gabrilli (PSDB).
“The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will not have a cut under any circumstances, all the money placed in the Budget will be executed and we will remove it from the ceiling. The spending cap remains, but Education and Science, Technology and Innovation stay out,” he said.
“You have to change the President of the Republic because every year he cuts, practically zeroes the Science and Technology Budget”, said Tebet, for whom “science, technology and innovation were never taken seriously in Brazil”.
She defended that the technology available to people with disabilities reach everyone in the country. “There are two Brazils, the Brazil of the disabled person who is rich and able to buy, and the Brazil of the disabled person who depends on the SUS. The technology is there ready for her, but unfortunately the government doesn’t do its homework and doesn’t make tax money available, especially in the health area,” she said.
The MDB candidate said that she will carry out “the largest inclusion program in history” for people with disabilities, in charge of Mara Gabrilli. The program deals with education, job qualification, accessibility (with transfer of resources from the Union to municipalities) and rehabilitation. “There are 45 million Brazilians, it is a state of São Paulo and, unfortunately, 90% live in poverty – we have to change that”, said Gabrilli.
