The omicron variant of the Coronavirus, more easily contagious but less likely to have complications, arrived weeks ago in Spanish society and has had no mercy at the level of affectation in the form of positives.
The low difficulty of transmission and the meetings during the Christmas season have increased the number of infections of COVID-19 in its new variant. LaLiga has not been an exception, where different clubs have seen how the tests confirmed different positives in their squads. Those affected have been the following:
Athletic club: Unai Simón, Íñigo Martínez, Álex Berenguer and Jokin Ezkieta.
FC Barcelona: Clément Lenglet and Daniel Alves.
Real Betis: Borja Iglesias, Andrés Guardado and six unspecified positives.
Cadiz: five unspecified positives.
Celta Vigo: five unspecified positives.
Elche: four unspecified positives.
RCD Espanyol: five unspecified positives.
I raised: Nemanja Radoja and three other unspecified players.
Osasuna: Enrique “Kike” García and Ante Budimir.
Vallecano Ray: twelve positives between players and unspecified coaching staff.
Real society: ten unspecified positives.
Real Madrid: Luka Modric, Marcelo Vieira, Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin, David Alaba, Francisco “Isco” Alarcón and Sergio Arribas.
Unlike those mentioned, other clubs have had more luck and, at the moment, do not have any contagion in their ranks. The lucky ones to date are Deportivo Alavés, Atlético de Madrid, Getafe, Granada, RCD Mallorca, Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal.
