Although the big headlines of events like CES 2021 are usually taken over by the big brands, there are others like TCL that also bring very interesting news. And it is that we must not forget that TCL is the group responsible for the commercialization of brands such as BlackBerry and AlcatelTherefore, its specific weight in the sector is greater than many people grant it. And its product catalog is singularly wide, with smartphones, smartwatches and televisions among others.
It has been a few months since the arrival on the Spanish market of its first 5G terminal, the TCL 10 5G, and today technology has presented the successor line of the 10 series, the TCL 20 family, in which we find the model that takes over, the TCL 20 5G and a 4G smartphone, the 20 SE that seeks the balance between an affordable price and optimized performance for the reproduction of multimedia content.

TCL 20 5G
Built around a Octa core Snapdragon 690 5G SoC with two 2.0 gigahertz KyroGold A77 cores, six 1.7 gigahertz KyroSilver A55 and Adreno 619L GPUs and six gigs of LPDDR4x RAM, we find a mid-range smartphone that contributes to the highly praiseworthy work of bringing 5G closer to this market segment. Regarding its storage capacity, there are 128 and 256 gigabyte versions, expandable via MicroSD card with up to 256 additional gigabytes.
Regarding its screen, we find a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel with FullHD + resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, which gives us an aspect ratio of 20: 9, and a dot density of 395 pixels per inch. One of the strengths of TCL is its NXTVISION technology, capable of converting SDR content into HDR. And in this sense it is also compatible with HDR10.
If we analyze the cameras of the TCL 20 5G, we see that the main one is made up of three sensors, a main 48-megapixel one with F number 1.8, an eight-megapixel f / 2.2 wide-angle and a macro-photography with two-megapixel resolution and f / 2.4. The front camera that pokes out through a hole in the screen is eight megapixels with an F 2 number.
In connectivity, as I mentioned before, it stands out for being a 5G terminal compatible with 5G NSA and SA networks, which guarantees that this 20 5G is not only compatible with already deployed networks, but also with those to come. In addition, and as expected, it also has WiFi ac and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. All of this is fueled by a 4,500 milliamp battery with fast charge (18 watts).
The TCL 20 5G is already on sale in the Italian market and its arrival in others is expected soon. Its price starts at 299 euros.
TCL 20 SE
If the 20 5G is a mid-range terminal, this 20 SE is undoubtedly in the entry range, despite some aspects that could allow it to play in higher leagues. One of those points is your 6.82-inch LCD screen with 20.5: 9 aspect ratio. However, its resolution hangs it from the mid-range, since it remains at 1,640 x 720, below what we normally find in that segment.
If we look at its entrails we find a Snapdragon 460 SoC with an Adreno 610 GPU, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of capacity, expandable by a MicroSD card of up to 256 gigs. As for its autonomy, it depends on a 5,000 milliamp battery (Another aspect in which it stands out) with fast charging function (18 watts), although the charger it includes is 10 watts. Regarding its connectivity, the TCL 20 SE is a 4G terminal that also has WiFi 4, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC.
If we analyze their cameras we find another element that has caught my attention and that I find remarkable. The main one is made up of four sensors, the main 16-megapixel f / 1.8, a 5-megapixel super wide-angle with F number 2.2, a 2-megapixel f / 2.4 macro sensor and (this is what I meant at the beginning of the paragraph) a 2 megapixel f / 2.4 sensor designed exclusively to enhance the aesthetic appearance of out-of-focus areas of photos with shallow depth of field. The front camera sits in a notch in the top center and features an eight megapixel f / 2.0 sensor.
The TCL 20 SE will soon arrive in our market for a very competitive price if we consider its specifications. The version with 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage will go on sale for 149 euros.
