Mexico City.- The $1.6 billion that recently made Taylor Swift the richest female music artist in the world is being put to positive use.
And, according to the Page Six portal, the singer donated five million dollars this week to help those affected by hurricanes “Milton” and “Helene” in Florida.
Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said in a statement posted to the organization’s Instagram page that they are “incredibly grateful” for Swift’s donation. “This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms.
“Together, we can have a real impact in supporting families as they face the challenges ahead,” Babineaux-Fontenot said in the letter.
The donation will help the dozens of people affected by the passage of Hurricane “Milton”, which is advancing towards the Gulf coast of Florida. Forecasters predict it could be one of the most destructive storms on record in that area. Two weeks ago, “Helene” hit Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. The storm left a 500-mile path of destruction across six states, causing catastrophic flooding and leaving more than 230 people dead in its wake. “We thank Taylor Swift for supporting us in the movement to end hunger and help communities in need,” Babineaux-Fontenot added in the statement. Less than two weeks ago, much of the southern United States suffered the deadly force of Hurricane Helene, and with Milton making landfall on Wednesday, both are expected to cause billions of dollars in damage. Fortunately, Swift has not been the only celebrity who has contributed her grain of sand to the restoration of communities. Dolly Parton donated $1 million of her personal funds to a Tennessee nonprofit. His companies, including the Dollywood theme park, contributed another million. For their part, Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Eric Church and other country music stars organized a benefit show for October 26. “A Concert for Carolina” will take place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
