France remains a country of fundamental importance for Stellantis, which in the near future aims to build up to twelve electrified models in the transalpine country. An ambitious goal that the CEO of the group born from the merger between FCA and PSA, Carlos Tavares, also wanted to confirm at the Paris Motor Show, where he met with the French president Emmanuel Macron. A target that, if reached, would consist in a doubling of the electrified models built in France, which are currently six.
Speaking with the French mayor, the Portuguese manager specified that the Peugeot e-308, e-308 SW and e-408 cars will be produced in the Mulhouse plant. Tavares then focused on the issue linked to the crisis caused by the shortage of components, microchips and semiconductors in particular, hinting at some glimmer of optimism. “The shortage of microchips is improving. There are only a few suppliers that remain problematic – his words reported during the French kermesse – The situation will continue to improve and by the end of 2023 the matter will be resolved. We have to manage the situation for these months of 2022 and 2023 ″. Christian Meunier, the CEO of Jeep, is also of the same opinion, who, again in the window of the Parisian fair, explained: “It is currently an open question, we handle it on a daily basis. There will still be twelve months in which we will have to manage it but it does not worry us, it is our job ”.
