Tatiana Calmell del Solar In 2022, she became the second finalist in Miss International 2022. Since then, her second goal was to enter the world of acting. Her wish was fulfilled. She is the protagonist of Welcome to Paradise, a film directed by Ani Alva Helfer and which is already in local theaters. “I decided to join a representation agency because, in addition to having participated in beauty pageants, I wanted to go one step further in the world of entertainment. I wanted to act and that's how it all started,” recalls the lanky mannequin.
In the Peruvian film in co-production With a Disney subsidiary, she plays Kiki, Lucas's girlfriend (Andrés Salas), a couple who fell in love instantly and decide to get married on the paradise islands of the Caribbean. They will go with their family and friends to have the wedding of their dreams, but they will have to live a series of humorous and dramatic situations as well.
“When I received the call from the Dominican producer I couldn't believe it. Then Ani, who was premiering Single, Married, Widowed, Divorced, invited me to the avant premiere and I thought it was amazing to see a wonderful woman who makes films and with whom she was going to work. We talked, but I had no idea of the magnitude of what was coming,” she recalls.
“At the beginning I didn't know that I would have the lead role, only that it would be a girlfriend with certain characteristics. Then, when I received that call and they told me that it would be produced by a subsidiary of disney, it was a super big surprise. I can't help but be grateful that I was also surrounded by a tremendous cast, all A1 actors. “That's priceless,” undoubtedly referring to actors of the caliber of Bruno Odar and Katia Condos, who play their parents in said fiction.
Want to experience the magic of theater
Precisely, she says from Odar that she has received the best advice and it has encouraged her to continue in the art world where preparation is vital. “I would like to grow more as an actor, explore other things. Bruno has told me that cinema and television are beautiful, but that I must experience the magic of theater, that it is different and that that will help me.” She adds that he also wants to reinforce personal projects that have to do with communication on his social networks “giving a deeper message.”
What's next for Tatiana? “I'm looking at some options to study in Mexico or Colombia. In this last country there was an approach for a project, but at that time I did not have the time it required. And I am waiting to study with Bruno Odar, who is a recognized teacher. Unfortunately, when he could, he had already started his workshop, but I'm waiting. I know this is just beginning and I must be prepared for the next opportunity.”
