Governor-elect of São Paulo intends to start the work of the new government on the 1st day; he is an ally of Jair Bolsonaro (PL)
The governor-elect of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), will not attend the presidential inauguration of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), in Brasilia.
Governors, like the president, are sworn in on January 1, 2023. They are usually sworn in in the morning. The President, in the early afternoon.
According to his allies, after the local inauguration, Tarcísio will remain in São Paulo, where he should start the work of the new government. The 1st meeting of the secretariat must be held on the same day as the inauguration.
Tarcísio is a political ally of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who lost the presidential elections to Lula. Before launching himself as a candidate for the government of São Paulo, he was Bolsonaro’s Minister of Infrastructure.
Tarcísio has already made contact with the vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), after the elections. With Lula, not yet. Alckmin is in charge of dialogue with governors. He was the governor of São Paulo for 4 terms.
