Governor-elect of SP considers the necessary adjustment and claims that civil service salaries have been frozen since 2019
The governor-elect of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), considered, this Thursday (17.Nov.2022), that it is necessary to readjust the salary cap of the civil service, provided by the increase in the salary of his position in the Executive.
Tarcísio claimed that the ceiling represented by the governor’s salary has been frozen since 2019 and said that the issue should be assessed responsibly. A bill is pending at Alesp (Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo) (here is the full – 221 KB) which provides for an increase in remuneration from BRL 23,048.59 to BRL 34,572.89.
The approval of the measure represents a variation of 50% in the salaries of the 1st echelon of the State Executive and could have an impact of R$ 1.5 billion on the public coffers with the effect on the salary of civil servants, restricted to the ceiling. The vice-governor would receive BRL 32,844.41, compared to BRL 21,896.27, and the secretaries would increase from BRL 20,743.72 to BRL 31,115.58.
🇧🇷We have to take a lot of responsibility, because when you talk about raising the governor’s salary from there, the target for the ceiling of civil service comes out. So, at the end of the day, this impacts a series of careers and prevents a series of professionals from having a real increase“, said the governor-elect.
🇧🇷So, this has to be evaluated responsibly, I understand that this is necessary, but we have to consider the issue of space to make the adjustments that we also have to make in the entry careers“, he declared.
Tarcísio was taking part in a meeting of members of the transitional cabinet, which starts operating on Monday (21.nov), with the current governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo García (PSDB).
The bill entered the Alesp voting agenda twice, but did not have a quorum, and should be voted on next week.
