The smell of gas was detected in a terraced apartment in Tampere on Wednesday evening. According to the measurements made by the rescue service, there had been an increase in carbon monoxide concentrations.

Pirkanmaan On Wednesday evening, the rescue service was alerted to a hazardous substance accident on Järvensivu Teerentie in Tampere.

A smell of gas had been detected in one of the apartments of a townhouse heated with natural gas. Before the units of the rescue service arrived, the residents had closed the main gas shutoff.

The rescue service made measurements on the spot with a gas meter. An increase in carbon monoxide concentrations was observed in one of the apartments. According to the rescue service, the situation was caused by a technical fault in the heating system.

One person was transported from the scene to the emergency department of Tampere University Hospital in Acuta for further examinations. In addition, the rescue service ventilated the premises.

The announcement of what happened came a little after seven in the evening. According to the alarm, several units of the rescue service went to the place.
