The Italian jumper, gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, is a great lover of four wheels and never gives up driving. From Nissan Juke to BMW: here are its secrets
Five years ago, the disappointment of not being able to take part in the Olympic Games in Rio. Now, the revenge, with a gold medal around his neck that rewards all the efforts in the previous days. Giamarco Tamberi has redone himself in the best way. The Italian jumper takes the victory in the Tokyo final on an equal footing with the Qatari Mutaz Barshim. In the world of the Marches born in 1992, engines also seem to play an important role.
Many hoped that Tamberi would return to fly high to take away the satisfaction denied by injuries. Among these is General Giorgio Bartoletti, commander of the Sports Center of the Guardia di Finanza, who wished “Gimbo” a very rapid return to high levels, perhaps as fast as a Nissan Juke. This model was delivered to the jumper of the Fiamme Gialle in 2015.
Tamberi is very active on social media. On his account, Gianmarco also showed which cars he prefers and drives most frequently. For example, he called the BMW X6 the car of his dreams. In addition, sometimes he also puts himself on the simulator to drive the virtual racing cars of the German brand. In 2019 he even launched a challenge to Lewis Hamilton.
Not even when on vacation, Tamberi seems willing to give up the wheel. Its social channels capture moments of fun while traveling to exotic and little-explored places driving an unexpected vehicle, the dune buggy, a type of car originally conceived for driving on the sand.
Cars can sometimes come in handy for track workouts. For instance, Marcel Jacobs prepares his races by racing in the wake of a car , keeping it as a reference. A test that paid off. Tamberi himself also got behind the wheel on the track. No high speed or reckless driving: just a funny imitation of the Roman rapper 1727wrldstar, aka Algero Corredini.
