The Taliban speak of ‘unfair’ accusations. “This information is not based on any evidence. We reject it,” said Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Sayed Khosti in a video message sent to the media. “Although former members of the security forces of the overthrown government have been killed, it was because of rivalry or personal enmity,” the spokesman said. “If they have documents and evidence, they should show it to us,” the United States and allies said.
The Interior Ministry spokesman in Afghanistan’s transitional government reminded the US and allies that after taking power, the Taliban announced a general amnesty for all security forces of the former regime. This allows many of them to live ‘quietly’ in the country, having ‘killed hundreds of fighters (Taliban) and civilians’ in the last two decades of war.
