In the announcement of this new original film from Sword Art Online part of the cast of the series was present. Among them were Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito), Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna), Miyuki Sawahiro (Sinon), and Rina Hidaka (Silica).

When did the Sword Art Online anime start?
While Reki Kawahara’s original novel of Sword Art Online started in 2002, its publication in light format was until April 10, 2009 and the anime came years later.
The first episode of the animated adaptation came out on July 8, 2012 and ended up being a hit. The first season ended on December 23 of the year mentioned above. Two seasons followed, of which the second came out on July 5, 2014.
