Taiwan is a step away from the war with China. The Taiwanese Foreign Minister said without too many words, Joseph Wu, which in an exclusive interview with Cnn he explained: “We cannot take risks, we must be prepared”.
A week after the Chinese army sent a record fleet of 28 warplanes for an exercise around the islandin order to have tighter control over the Taiwan Strait and send a “strong signal to the Taiwanese secessionists and their Western supporters,” the tension is skyrocketing.
“When the Chinese government says it will not give up the use of force and conducts military exercises around Taiwan, we prefer to believe it is serious,” added Joseph Wu.
In office since 2018, Wu was accused by Beijing in May of being a “irreducible separatist“, after some of his statements made during a press conference that Taiwan would fight” until the last day “if it were attacked by China.
