“Over the last six years, both you and I have led important efforts in our respective jurisdictions,” the opposition candidate began by highlighting that the Iztapalapa mayor’s office is the most unsafe in all of Mexico City since Brugada is in charge.
When I took office, Taboada continued, Benito Juárez faced serious challenges in terms of citizen security. However, thanks to effective measures, we managed to transform it into one of the safest areas in the country.
“In your case, at the beginning of your mandate, Iztapalapa was not exactly recognized as the safest mayor’s office in Mexico City. Unfortunately, the results obtained have not been as expected,” stated the candidate, highlighting that Clara Brugada “abandoned Iztapalapa”.
What did Taboada say about the working conditions of the police officers?
“That is why today we commit to shielding Mexico City against crime and fear. Our first step will be to guarantee the protection of those who protect us: the police,” Taboada announced in a government plan where he will seek to prioritize police officers and their working conditions.
He indicated that this project would involve improve their salaries, benefits and offer them comprehensive training so that they can carry out their work without being tempted by corruption.
“We want a police force with integrity, in which trust and closeness to the community are its fundamental pillars. Furthermore, we commit to reduce emergency response times to no more than 3 minutes.
He added that he would implement advanced crime detection and anticipation systems, as well as effective measures to punish the guilty. He also said it would be essential to create a comprehensive security platform in his project to shield Mexico City.
“Aware of the importance of providing safe spaces for everyone, we are committed to creating a group specialized in combating violence against young people and women. We want them to be able to go out to study, work and have fun without fear,” she concluded.
