Anita Alvarez survived the frightening situation.
Swimming The World Cup in Budapest, Hungary, saw a frightening situation on Wednesday when an American skilled swimmer Anita Alvarez fainted in the middle of his performance.
When Alvarez sank to the bottom, his coach Andrea Fuentes dived into the pool and brought the swimmer to the surface. Alvarez did not breathe, but was resuscitated, according to AFP news agency.
“I had to jump into the pool because lifeguards didn’t do it,” Fuentes commented in Spanish Marca, according to AFP.
“It was scary because I saw he wasn’t breathing. Now she is fine. ”
Spanish Fuentes himself is a four-time Olympic medalist in figure swimming. He said the fainting was due to the strain on performance.
“I shouted to the lifeguards that they had to go into the water, but they didn’t catch my message or understand me.”
According to Fuentes, Alvarez planned to rest on Thursday, hoping to join Friday’s team after health checks.
Alvarez, 25, is taking part in the third World Cup. According to AFP, he also fainted at the Olympic qualifiers in Barcelona last year.
