The annual across-the-bay swimming competition, La Travesía a Nado de la Bahía de La Herradura, has come around again and will be held tomorrow, Sunday the 5th.
This 21st edition, which is organized by the Provincial Council with the collaboration of Almuñécar Town Hall, will concluded the Provincial Circuit of Crossings.
This swimming event consists of seven categories (male and female): children, junior, senior, master 30, master 40, master 50 and master 60. The minimum age to participate is 8-years old.
The competition begins at 11.30h, starting with the children’s category, between the Dani’s Varadero and La Caleta, covering 500 linear meter.
The rest of the categories will cover the distance of 1,500 meters between Peña Parda and La Caleta. Competitions will set off at different time, depending on their category, starting at 11.36h.
The first three past the post in each category will receive a trophy. There will also be a trophy for the eldest competitor and for each competitor with a disability.
Prior to this closing event with the provincial swimming competitions, similar competitions have been held in reservoirs: Cubillas, Colomera, Negratín (Campo Caves), and Bermejales (Sands of the King), as well as on Castell de Ferro beach. The one that had been organized for Salobreña had to be canceled because of rough sea conditions.
