Swedish startup Stilride, founded in 2019, develops an electric scooter that aims to become the most sustainable and attractive in the world. With government grants, the company uses laser technology and 3D printing to create an innovative design with lower pre- and post-production costs.
The Sports Utility Scooter 1, SUS1, is made using a process called “industrial origami”: sheets of stainless steel cold-rolled and 3D-folded with lasers. The StilFold technology was patented by the company.

According to the startup, the technology makes it possible to create electric scooters that are more durable, cheaper and with less impact on the environment.
The scooter, which has no price or release date set yet, has a power of 14.8 hp and 50 V powered by a lithium-ion battery. The maximum speed is 100 km/h, and the range is 120 km in the city.
The next step is to seek the commercial viability of SUS1, which is done in partnership with the development company Robotdalen. To date, Stilride has more than 100,000 subscribers to receive updates about the vehicle.
“We strongly believe in the electrification of personal mobility, and we see a need for a new generation of mid-sized vehicles made in harmony with nature,” Stilride founder Tue Beijer told Auto Evolution.
