Popular Arabic-speaking social media influencers with millions of followers have also spread allegations about the work of the Swedish Social Authority. The campaign has picked up over the past week.

On Twitter, messages are shared with the tags “Sluta kidnappa våra barn” and “اوقفوا_خطف_اطفالنا” in Arabic.

However, Säpo, the security police, does not believe that the risk of a terrorist threat to Sweden has increased.

A demonstration was held in front of the Swedish Parliament on Monday, attended by about two hundred people. The protesters’ signs called, among other things, for the children to be returned to their parents. Many parents with a Muslim background have said they are concerned about messages on social media and fear the authorities will act.

In messages has been highlighted Swedish radio news from December, according to which children of parents with an immigrant background are taken into care more often than children born in Sweden. According to the 2019 figures, children from parents with a foreign background were twice as likely as children from a Swedish background.

Swedish radio interviewed a parent whose child was taken into forced care three years ago. The parent said he came from a culture with different rules for raising children than in Sweden. He said he hoped Sweden would give those coming to the country training on the rules for children.
