Countryman Marcel Bosker set the third fastest time with 6.24.66. He also just had to let the Norwegian Hallgeir Engebaten go first. Bosker and Engebraten rode in the last stage, just like Kramer and the Russian Danila Semerikov. Only the winner of the B group is promoted to the A group.
Kramer, ten-time Dutch champion in the 5000 meters, finished fifth at the NK Distances in the 5000 meters and thus qualified just for the World Cup. Like Bosker, he had to start on the first 5000 meters in the B group, in which four skaters are ridden on the track. Dutch champion Jorrit Bergsma, Patrick Roest and Marwin Talsma will compete in the A-group later on Friday.
