Oh yes, the Suzuki Katana! We had accidentally forgotten it a bit. A shame, because it is a special appearance and a well-performing naked. That will only get better from next year, because the Katana will receive the same updates as the GSX-S1000.
Good news, the Suzuki Katana gets a big boost with the novelties that its naked GSX-S1000 brother already had to deal with earlier this year. That means a Euro5-proof four-in-line with modified camshafts and valve springs, and of course ride-by-wire throttle control. The latter element not only provides a much better throttle response (we know from experience) but also ensures that the Suzuki Katana could now be equipped as standard with an up/down quickshifter, riding modes and five-way adjustable traction control.
As with the GSX-S1000, the block is slightly more powerful and now good for 150 hp @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm. So there was power (as you can see here). The new power-assisted clutch ensures smooth starting (low rpm assist) and better fingerspitzengefühl. We secretly find the dark blue sexy, as far as we know about it…
