Suzuki GSX-S950: the design
–
The new street-fighter with extremely modern features features an aggressive and futuristic line inspired by fighter fighter planes and highlighted by a latest generation superimposed LED headlight developed by Koito, aesthetically effective and functional. The saddle is shaped and has been designed to facilitate sporty driving. The rear light unit, also LED, is set in the short and streamlined tail, imposing the perception of the central part where the mass appears visually displaced forward. Tense shapes mark the 19-liter tank and find a solution of continuity in the side conveyors. Slender sides that allow you to rest your feet firmly on the ground, finally a wide handlebar with the ends angled towards the rider positioned at the right distance from the saddle.
Suzuki GSX-S950: the engine
–
The engine of the new street fighter derives from the engine that allowed Suzuki to win, in 2021, the twentieth World Endurance Championship in its history. Among the key features of the new unit is the special surface treatment of the cylinders to promote better heat dissipation and an increase in longevity, with lighter and stiffer pistons thanks to further control in the casting, an optimal compression ratio due to the design compact, iridium spark plugs and ten-hole injectors. The full power version of the 999 cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder delivers a maximum power of 70 kW, 95 HP, at 7,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6,500 rpm, while the weakened version has 35 kW , 47.5 Hp, at 6,100 rpm and 75 Nm at 3,250 rpm. The Gsx-S950 adopts a six-speed gearbox and the advanced Suzuki Clutch Assist System which introduces a slipper clutch assist function. This partially disengages to reduce the negative torque of the engine and reduce the effect of the engine brake during heavy downshifts. The compact 4-into-2-into-1 exhaust system has been updated with a new shape that repositions the Suzuki Exhaust Tuning system and with a silencer, a new catalytic converter and a revised design of the internal sections of the compensator that allow to respect full Euro 5 emissions regulations.
Suzuki GSX-S950: chassis
–
The chassis of the Gsx-S950 also derives from that of the multi-victorious Gsx-R1000. The aluminum double-beam frame is light and sturdy, the main sections of which directly integrate the steering head and the swingarm pivot, also in aluminum alloy, coming from the Gsx-R1000. The suspensions rely, at the front, on a 43 mm upside-down Kyb fork, while the swingarm acts through a lever on a shock absorber that can be adjusted in spring preload and in the rebound hydraulic brake. The braking system of the Gsx-S950 adopts Tokico monobloc radial mount calipers. Each caliper has four opposing 30mm pistons which act on floating 310mm discs. The ABS is programmed to monitor wheel speed and adjust braking power based on available grip. The wheels are six-spoke in 17-inch aluminum alloy and are fitted with Dunlop Roadsport 2 radial tires. The seat height is 810 mm, the weight of the bike in running order is 214 kg.
Suzuki GSX-S950: electronics
–
Numerous integrated electronic systems, in addition to the ABS already mentioned. The electronic ride-by-wire accelerator ensures gradual and natural responses to every intervention on the gas, while the “Aprisereno” system, or the Suzuki Traction Control System, prevents rear wheel slippage and loss of grip during acceleration. The electronic traction control is adjustable to three different levels of intervention and can also be deactivated. The electronic equipment also includes the Suzuki Easy Start System and the “Partisereno” system, the Low Rpm Assist, two devices that respectively facilitate starting and starting, making the daily use of the bike more comfortable and easy. Negative contrast full-LCD digital instrumentation that illustrates a range of useful information within a compact screen.
