For all motorcycle enthusiasts, the visit to Eicma has a little more beauty this year. In addition to the long-awaited return to presence, it was possible to admire the only example of Burgman 400 wrapped with the work “The fencer” by the Van Orton twins, world-famous Italian illustrators. Involved by the Japanese brand in the project ARThletes, together with the artists Francesco Poroli, Riccardo Guasco and Gianluca Folì, the Van Ortons have been elected by the Suzuki online community to customize the Burgman 400 livery and make it a true work of art on 2 wheels. Sold at auction on the charitystarts.com platform for 7,390 euros, it was delivered, together with the 1/50 print of the work, to the successful bidder in an official ceremony on Wednesday 24 November at the Suzuki stand in Eicma in Milan.
The entire auction proceeds were donated to Matalon Foundation who symbolically withdrew the check at the fair. The Milanese Foundation based in the very central Foro Buonaparte hosted the Burgman 400 for about 2 weeks, exhibited just like one of the gallery’s works of art. “With the proceeds from the auction – explained Nello Taietti, President of the Matalon Foundation – we will finance a series of projects to support the promotion of young emerging artists ”.
“Let’s close the circle of what ARThletes was – added Paolo Ilariuzzi, Director of the Motorcycle and Marine Engines Division of Suzuki Italy – an ambitious and innovative project that has been able to combine technical competence, Japanese culture, Italian taste and current events in an unprecedented and harmonious way. The four artists involved have created as many wonderful works of art and seeing one on the livery of one of our vehicles is exciting, knowing that it will be able to support projects for the benefit of other young artists is a real pride “.
