Police has arrested a middle-aged man in Juupajoki, Pirkanmaa, on suspicion of aggravated assault, violent resistance of an official, explosive crime, drug offense and aggravated firearms crime, informs the Inland Finland police.

The arrest was preceded by a police operation that began on Sunday night and continued through the night.

One person who, according to police, is not in danger of death has been injured in the violent crime.

Police received a report of a possible violent crime in Juupajoki from the emergency center in the early evening on Sunday.

At the scene, it became clear that the suspected crime had taken place in a private apartment, which the police were able to quickly locate. However, police failed to establish a voice connection with the suspect in the apartment.

The person injured in the violent crime was no longer in the apartment when the police arrived on the scene, says the crime commissioner Tuomas Korhonen.

Police isolated the property and several police patrols as well as rescue and emergency services units arrived at the scene.

Insulation during which the man threatened to detonate the explosives in his possession if police did not leave the scene.

Police eventually got in touch with the suspect, who was isolated in his apartment, and was arrested early on Monday morning without resistance.

Explosives were found in the apartment and are in the possession of the police. The police say in a press release that they will continue the investigation at the scene and will inform more about the matter as the preliminary investigation progresses.
