Police are investigating a series of thefts over a couple of years. There are more than a dozen suspected aggravated thefts and aggravated thefts.

Helsinki police are investigating a series of thefts involving young men, police said on Wednesday.

Suspected aggravated thefts and attempted aggravated thefts took place in 2019–2021. There are more than ten cases. The suspected thefts and their attempts targeted grocery stores, scrap offices and the electric bike company.

Eight men between the ages of 18 and 23 are suspected of the cases. Six of them are suspected of theft and two others are in possession of some of the stolen goods.

The suspects have caught e-bikes, cash and lunch vouchers worth thousands of euros, among other things.

“Police suspect that the men, disguised in various configurations, broke into the target properties. They cut holes in the walls of the buildings or broke the windows of the entrances. The police analyze the crimes on the basis of the same crimes committed by the suspects and the surveillance camera recordings, ”says the director of the investigation. For example, an angle grinder, circular saw, crowbar, hammers and latch were used for breaking.

Suspects Crimes have taken place in Pornais, Vantaa and Espoo, for example.

In October 2019, two suspects broke into a grocery store in Pornais, the wall of which they had made a hole to enter the business premises. They robbed the deal of about 16,000 euros in cash and Veikkaus’ lottery tickets.

In April 2020, three suspects broke into a bicycle shop in Vantaa and stole three electric bikes worth a total of about 20,000 euros.

These cases were investigated as gross thefts.

In March 2021, three suspects broke into a scrap office in Espoo. They caught about 23,000 euros in cash and about 11,000 euros worth of lunch vouchers. The case was investigated as aggravated theft and concealment.

Two the suspect has been in pre-trial detention during the pre-trial investigation.

The Helsinki police have investigated the whole together with the police departments of Western and Eastern Uusimaa.

The entity will move to prosecution before Christmas.
