Suspected criminal offenses Attempts have been made to investigate the case of a lawyer who disappeared in 1994 with hypnosis and even a lie-breaking machine –

During the investigation, police have tried hypnosis and a lie detection experiment. There is no smoking gun, but the accused’s story partly overlaps with other stories.

Turku resident the lawsuit against the lawyer’s disappearance is a continuation of lawsuits seeking a solution to crimes committed several decades ago.

Ilpo Härmäläinen disappeared nearly three decades ago, on August 3, 1994. He was pronounced dead in 2005, but the body is still missing.

Proceedings related to the murder mysteries began in 2005 Lake Bodom in the 1960s on charges of triple murder. This year, the courts heard a Viking Sally shipwreck in 1987. Its proceedings are still pending in the Turku Court of Appeal.

What connects the old cases is that the screen is made up of small pieces. So far, the courts have concluded that the pieces have not provided a sufficiently clear picture of what has happened. The charges have therefore been dropped.

Neither The Härmäläinen Disappearance Assembly does not have a single smoking weapon, but the evidence consists of circumstantial evidence.

The police have built a timeline of Härmäläinen’s disappearance based on, among other things, call information.

Prosecuted According to many witnesses, the advertiser was in the company of a lawyer on the day of his disappearance. The accused himself denies having any contact with a lawyer that day.

Ilpo Härmäläinen told both his wife and an acquaintance who called from France that he was going to see an apartment with an advertiser. The preliminary investigation did not clarify whether any apartment or property actually existed.

Härmäläinen left home at 12.15 pm after receiving a call from an advertiser. That is also the last sure observation of him.

Since the end of the summer, the police have been searching Härmäläinen’s body in the Airisto area. The reason for this can be found in the preliminary investigation report.

The advertiser made a call at 13.44 on the day of the disappearance, which was located at the Naantali grain warehouse. At that time, there were fewer cell phone base stations than there are today. The post of the grain depot covered a fairly large area and was dominant especially in the seaward direction.

Instead, it is not up to Raisio Kesoil, where the accused tried to arrange an alibi for himself, according to police suspicions.

The accused’s family member worked at the service station. This told police that one day an advertiser had appeared on the scene and asked to mark his visit on the calendar. This was to be done in case there was a speech or questioning later.

Police suspect the man used a wooden sailboat he owned to destroy the body. A search of the boat was conducted in August 2021, but nothing was found.

The man says he can’t control the boat stored in Satava alone. The ex-wife disagreed during interrogations. He said the boat was easily moved from the berth alone because it had a good and efficient engine.

Police suspects that the advertiser also built an alibi for the morning before meeting Härmäläinen.

At ten o’clock, the man had met with the bank manager to discuss some construction project. The woman says there was something strange about the meeting. The advertiser’s plans were flimsy, but he never went back with the details.

Police once tried to improve a woman’s memory through hypnosis. Hypnotizing the woman was embarrassing.

“I was once terribly disturbed by the fact that I was offered hypnosis and I really had nothing to give it. I would say I didn’t go into deep hypnosis at all. ”

The hypnosis video is attached to the pre-trial report.

The specialties of the investigation also include a proposal made to an advertising agency in 1997 for a lie detection test. After consulting with his lawyer at the time, the man refused.

Police again asked for willingness in 2000. The man promised to consider the matter overnight, but the next day he announced his refusal.

During the preliminary investigation, the weapons of the advertising agency were clarified. According to records, the man has had a Colt revolver and a shotgun at least at some point.

The wife, son, and a couple of other witnesses said the man also had a leg spring. The man himself does not remember the leg spring at all.

In many other details, too, the man’s story intersects with the memoirs of the witnesses.

About the man the characterizations given are not flattering. He is described as a narcissist as well as a skilled manipulator and liar. Because of the man’s abductions, many have cut off from him completely.

For example, adult children have little contact with their father. The boy does not want to say the reason for the break. The daughter, on the other hand, says the father used his name without permission in a document, and as a result, the daughter ran into trouble.

One witness says a man stole a witness’s brother’s economics papers to appear as a master of economics. Another tells the man with his stories in his officer’s party, but it later emerged that the man’s military career did not progress beyond the sailor.

In 2007, a man was convicted of an illegal threat after threatening to kill his subjects in a cellar. To overcome the shortage, the man had persuaded a woman who worked for the company to tell the police a false story. The woman did so, but in court she no longer wanted to lie.

One witness says the man always pretended to be terminally ill when the situation began to be embarrassing.

Once, in order to get compassion, the man had told him that his wife had died in a sailing accident. Shortly afterwards, a witness noticed in the paper a picture of his wife serving coffee at a military home. Even after that, not everyone was convinced that the wife would be alive.
