Salman Rushdie stabbing suspect pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and assault charges Thursday at a court hearing in upstate New York.
Hadi Matar, 24, reiterated, through his lawyer, his declaration of innocence of the charges he faces for allegedly breaking into the stage of a literary event last Friday in the town of Chautauqua, and stabbing the British writer several times in the neck and abdomen.
Salman Rushdie underwent emergency surgery after the attack in New York.
Arrested immediately afterwards, the suspect had already pleaded not guilty during a trial hearing on Saturday.
