In Cluse (Haute-Savoie), companies work more for the automobile. Since the Covid-19 health crisis, a manufacturer of mechanical parts has started producing surgical masks. Richard Blond, the boss, is quite proud of it. Last March, when the country was in dire need of masks, he did not hesitate for long and invested ten million euros, including two million in state aid, to embark on this new activity.
“We decided to buy machines, to bring them quickly to improve them and industrialize them to put them into production.“, affirms Richard Blond. Today, the company manufactures ten million masks per week. So it pushed its old machines, to install the new ones. It also hired 160 people.”With confinement, everything was closed. Only this one opened, so it was an opportunity“, explains a newly recruited employee.
