Supreme Court approved the extradition of former Santa Fe and Deportivo Cali soccer player: he is accused of drug trafficking in the United States

The former Colombian player Roland de la Cruz Biojóaccused of drug trafficking in the United States, would serve his sentence in the American country. Supreme Court of Justice approved his extradition in the last few hours.

“The Court proceeds to issue an opinion on the request for extradition of the Colombian citizen Rolan de la Cruz Biojó made by the Government of the United States of America for the alleged commission of the crimes of ‘conspiracy to commit crimes and illicit drug trafficking,'” explained the Supreme Court.

Rolan de la Cruz Biojó is accused of being part of a network dedicated to cocaine trafficking.

“In accordance with the considerations set forth above, the Court concludes that all constitutional and legal requirements have been met to allow a favorable opinion of the extradition request made by the Government of the United States of America against Rolan de la Cruz Biojó,” it added.

“If the National Government grants extradition, it must require the requesting State to guarantee the person sought remains in the requesting nation and returns to Colombia in conditions of dignity and respect, even after being acquitted, acquitted, declared not guilty or similar events; even after his release after having served the sentence imposed,” the Court indicated.
