Change the program
With a quarter of the season behind us the 2024 World Superbike calendar is undergoing a small-big revolution. Today, in fact, the championship for production derivatives – which is experiencing a season characterized by balance with five different drivers who have won at least one of the first nine races – announced the cancellation of the Hungarian Roundwhich was supposed to be the eighth of 12 scheduled this year.
Hungary outside, Portugal inside
The triptych of races were scheduled at the Balaton Park Circuit on 24-25 Augustbut because of the failure to complete the work at the Hungarian facility the WSBK leaders had to take action. A was therefore included in the calendar additional round in Octobera week before the grand finale in Jerez, which will take place on Estoril Portuguese track.
Back to back to assign the title
The overall stages of the season therefore remain 12, but France, Italy and Aragon ‘climb’ one position in the world championship programme. The new Portuguese round instead becomes the 11th and will take place from 11 to 13 Octoberthus creating a spectacular back to back which will be decisive for the awarding of world titles.
