On Matchday 6, Itas goes down by a set before recovering and closing. Lorenzetti’s team regains victory after 2 knockouts in a row and the spiker who came out against Padua for a sprain is back in action
Trento-Monza 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 27-25, 25-23)
–
The direct confrontation between the two sextets that perhaps surprised the most at this start of the season rewards Itas Trentino, who won in four halves against Vero Volley Monza. In a match that was a real direct battle to stay on the current podium of the SuperLega, in which Monza started very strong relying on the Grozer-Dzavoronok duo. But that in the long run had to collect the return of a much less foul Trento, dragged by the tests of Lisinac in the center and by the eternal Matey Kaziyski in place-4. Plus the happy note of Alessandro Michieletto’s return to the field after an ankle injury. The Mantuan Golden Boy goes to the bench, Lorenzetti’s starting six is the same as in the last few outings with Lavia placed-4 and Pinali opposite, as well as Eccheli confirms the team that has done so much so far. Lorenzetti stops everything already on 2-5, when Grozdanov blocks Lavia, shortly after the Bulgarian center finds the ace of 3-7. Still from nine meters Grozer unloads the ace of 8-12, Trento remains in the wake thanks to the wall of Lavia (10-12) before the attack and break phase from Brianza fail to put more and more pressure on Itas. At 14-18 Lorenzetti stops everything because Davyskiba hurts the Dolomite reception, to lengthen the Lombard break is Grozdanov’s block on compatriot Kaziyski with the following ace from Grozer (16-22). At 17-23, Michieletto returns to the field in place of Kaziyski, when, however, the set is firmly in the hands of Monza.
Trento comes back to life at the start of the second set starting immediately 4-1, Eccheli calls timeo out but of the first six points of Itas the exact half come from errors of the Lombards. The video check transforms a point for Monza into one for Trento (11-6), Vero Volley messes much more than the first set and Lisinac’s turn to serve brings Itas to 15-7. Kaziyski warms his arm after a first set like this (17-10), while the guests pay dearly for a net drop in efficiency in serving and attack (19-11). The partial final (22-13) sees Itas only having to manage the margin to lead the set into place.
In the third set Dzavornok returns to beat (11-11) and Monza finds a greater pace in attack. Just as he maintains effectiveness in his own wall (12-14 with Davyskiba printing Lavia) while Galassi guesses the ace of 14-17 by folding Zenger’s arms. Dzavoronok brings his team to 16-20 when Trento finds a burst of pride and returns below a length (19-20), Davyskiba, however, is also very effective in the pipe and allows Monza to reach 20-23. In the final Sbertoli makes a mistake but the newly entered Oreste Cavuto thinks about straightening the situation and realizing the two points that are worth 24-24 sending the dispute to the advantages. At that point it is still the hitter who grew up in the nursery of Trento itself who finds the blow of the knockout, also facilitated by two previous mistakes by Grozer.
Partial fourth which then opens in the sign of equilibrium (Lisinac makes 7-7), both sextets now collect little directly from the bar and a lot of it leans on the wall-defense and reconstruction (10-10). At the first sign of confusion on the pitch Eccheli spends a discretionary time-out (12-10), an excellent choice because parity reigns again (12-12) thanks to Grozer’s one-two. The balance continues (14-14) at least until Kaziyski goes to serve: three aces and 21-18 on the board of the Blm Group Arena. Two errors in attack by Pinali bring Monza back under (21-20) and push Lorenzetti to stop the game, in the end, however, Itas makes no mistake and goes to seal the three points.
