Today a new State of Play focused on games from Japanese studios. We had an extensive look at all kinds of projects, and the vast majority of them will be available this year. In case you missed it, or just want to relive some of the most epic moments, here is a summary of the most relevant announcements from this presentation.
Exoprimal – Reveal Trailer
Exoprimal is a brand new IP from Capcom where we will be using a high-tech suit to fight dinosaurs. We know the concept sounds a bit weird, but the trailer doesn’t look too bad. The game will arrive on PlayStation consoles in 2023.
Ghostwire: Tokyo – Launch Trailer
With just a few weeks left until the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo, its developers have released a new trailer showing us a few gameplay scenes and its story. This game will arrive as an exclusive to PlayStation 5 consoles on March 25.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – New demo for PS5 and PS4
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will hit the market on March 18, but thanks to a new demo that will be available today on the PlayStation Store, PS5 and PS4 users will be able to try this game before it is officially released.
Forspoken – Gameplay Trailer
Despite being delayed until October, Forspoken had a new trailer during today’s State of Play that not only gave us a new look at its gameplay, but also gave us a little more insight into its history. The game is coming to PS5 and PC on October 11, 2022.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection – Reveal Trailer
A new collection made up of various Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games was revealed today as part of the new State of Play. Konami is keeping this secret very well, but the bad news is that they did not give an exact release date, only that it will be available at some point this year.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R – Reveal Trailer
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R is a remastering of the game that debuted for PS3 in 2013, although this time we’ll see it with better visuals and more than 50 characters. The game is coming to PS4 and PS5 in the fall of 2022.
Trek to Yomi – Story Trailer
Trek to Yomi was revealed last year during Devolver Digital’s E3 2021 conference, and it’s finally back for this State of Play. We had a new trailer that revealed additional details about its story, and the title will be available in the spring of this 2022.
Returnal: Ascension – Reveal Trailer
Returnal showed up very surprisingly during this State of Play to announce a new free update known as Ascension. This patch will add a cooperative mode and a survival mode, and will be available on March 22.
The DioField Chronicle – Reveal Trailer
Another game from Square Enix is The Diofield Chronicle, a tactical RPG that is making its debut this year. Those who have already had the opportunity to play Triangle Strategy on Nintendo Switch will surely notice a couple of similarities between the two.
Valkyrie Elysium – Reveal Trailer
To close out the event we were given a look at Valkyrie Elysium, a new action RPG that will be part of the Valkyrie Profile franchise. The title will be available at some point this year.
